At BitterSweets, we love seeing how our quirky candies make an impact beyond the home. Recently, we had the incredible opportunity to showcase our unique treats at a local parenting workshop hosted by the Sugar Hills Township Community Center! It was a day filled with laughter, learning, and plenty of surprised taste buds as families got a firsthand look at how BitterSweets can turn life’s lessons into fun, teachable moments

A Sweet Hit at the Parenting Workshop

The event, themed “Creative Discipline for Modern Families,” brought together parents, educators, and community leaders to explore fresh approaches to teaching kids accountability and respect. BitterSweets fit right in with our playful take on discipline. From the moment visitors saw our display—complete with Soap Suckers, Brussel Pops, and Citrus Twists—they were intrigued.

Kids couldn’t resist trying the candies, only to discover their unexpected flavors. Watching their reactions was priceless! One young attendee took a daring bite of a Brussel Pop and declared, “It’s like dinner…but candy!” Meanwhile, parents appreciated the lighthearted approach to tackling tough conversations. “This is genius,” one parent told us. “It makes discipline fun instead of stressful.”

Giving Back with a Sweet Mission

We’re proud to share that proceeds from the event’s sales went toward supporting local youth programs at the community center. BitterSweets donated over $5,124 to fund activities like after-school tutoring, art classes, and mentorship programs. It’s important to us that our mission of teaching life lessons extends not just to individual families but to the broader community.

We also held a mini-session for kids and parents, where our Co-Founders, Russell and Ryan shared the story of how they started BitterSweets. Sharing childhood memories of their step mother Eveline (“Eviline”) and how her inventive “punishments” inspired us to create these candies brought smiles and laughs all around.
